Painwheel

Canon:

- Appearance above. Has some buglike qualities and behaviors. Buer Drive had a spiral pattern on both sides of it.
- Almost never wears the mask anymore after being rescued, but preferrs to keep Buer Drive intact for some reason.
Partway through her assignment of finding the Skullgirl, Painwheel basically said "screw it I'm going home" and kept rebelling against her orders since then. She found her way home, but despite taking off her mask before knocking on the door, her parents were still horrified anyway and refused to believe she was their daughter. She took the rejection terribly; after just wanting to go home for ages, She wouldn't ever be welcomed back. She lost motivation for everything because of it and resorted to just wandering the outskirts of town alone. Even so, she still continued to fight off Brain Drain's influence for most of that time, mostly because she was too tired to obey even if she were to give in.She was found a week later by Big Band, who was now on his own mission to find the Skullgirl. Maybe he recognized her from lab reports he may have somehow seen. But with the state Painwheel was in, he didn't hesitate to take her in like she was his own kid. Not willing to leave her there alone, he encouraged her to come with him on his mission. Painwheel agreed to go, reluctant at first, and hoped to be able to take her emotions out on people in battle, but he refused to let her fight. He later took her with him back to Lab 8, where she met Peacock and the other kids living there. It took a while to feel okay with being in another lab setting, and Brain Drain still nagging in her head didn't help. But it did help that the people in the lab actually seemed to care for once, especially Big Band and Peacock, who both kept her from totally isolating herself in her grief and anxiety. It took them a long time to coax her out of her shell of anger and distrust, but she eventually began to let go and also began to see Big Band and Peacock as father and sister figures, respectively. Peacock started encouraging Painwheel to participate in her many shenanigans, to which she finally agreed and quickly began to enjoy. She soon started to try to make pranks herself, though these mostly consisted of trying to sneak into and hide in Band Dad's instruments when no one was paying attention.

- Brain Drain did finally give up on her one day. She still carried a lot of hatred for him and Valentine for most of the rest of her life, but eventually generally forgot about them.
- Also grew to hate her real parents almost just as much for abandoning her the way they did.
- Before becoming Painwheel, she was learning violin in school. She was pretty good at it, and was planning to move up to cello, but never got the chance to. This came up in conversation with Band Dad once, and in response to her regret of not being able to do what she used to enjoy, he went and straight up bought her a violin.
- The lab kids were sometimes allowed to go outside and see the town, for a change of scenery. They were almost always chaperoned by Band Dad or a Lab employee to make sure they were safe, even though most of them were more than able to fend for themselves if they had to. On occasion, Painwheel would still sneak out on her own, or with Peacock, but never really went too far away when she did. Usually.
- After recovering enough emotionally from everything she had been put through, Painwheel started going to school again. Peacock was also enrolled in the same school and often tried to skip.
- Filia had since returned to school as well, despite still trying to deal with her amnesia. Painwheel recognized her and she at least somewhat remembered her too, so they became friends again. Painwheel eventually developed a crush on her, but never admitted it, and dodged any questions about it (except for confiding in Peacock who tried to be my wingman). Filia probably eventually guessed, though.
- The way Buer Drive had been attached to her spine caused a bit of pain at times, but her obscene levels of pain tolerance made it negligible, and she never, if ever, voiced any complaint about it.
